A handbook titled *International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREG-72), published by the Maritime Administration. This is a 173-page, standard-format hardcover book featuring the text in both Estonian and English. The last time similar international rules for preventing collisions at sea were published in Estonian was in 1938; following World War II, Russian became the dominant language in the maritime sector, and no official Estonian translation was produced. The regulations for preventing collisions at sea that remain in force today were adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1972. The Republic of Estonia acceded to the Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea in 1991, and the text was published in Part II of the Riigi Teataja in 2005. The handbook published by the Maritime Administration presents the full Estonian and English text of the convention as it appeared in the 2005 Riigi Teataja, accompanied by annexes, commentary, and illustrations.
